The piston pin bushing is removed and a new one installed.  Almost every bushing manufacturer provides the new bushing that is not at its final size.  This is mostly due to the fact the bushing can become distorted when pressed in, as well as the machinist can alter the height of the piston according to manufacturer's specifications.
